 Bhubaneswar Mini-Marathon

World over marathons are admired for the emotional connect that they establish in the hearts and minds of the citizens. A marathon provides the city with a platform to come together in a celebration that cuts across social and economic barriers. It is an event that stirs the conscience of every citizen, encouraging them to reach out in aid of a cause.
 
On the occasion of WORLD AIDS Day, 1st December 2009, Orissa Television appeals to the people to come and join a mini-marathon in order to sensitize the masses about the killer disease.

 Guidelines for Bhubaneswar Mini-Marathon:
a)There is no entry fee to participate
b)There is no provision for any prizes/gifts for position holders
c)Transportation to/from the start/end point at participants own arrangement.
d)Reporting time at Infocity main gate, Patia is 6:00 AM
e)No participant shall be allowed to join the formation if arrived after 6:30 AM
f)The participant is expected to exhibit co-operation and discipline during the entire event g)Carrying food items/beverages is strictly prohibited.
h) Use of vehicle/any other means of transportation is not allowed to reach the closing point at Kalinga stadium practice field.
i) Every participant is requested to wear the “Bhubaneswar Mini Marathon “T shirt” which will be provided by the organizer on first-come-first-serve basis. Participating institutes will be provided with exact number of T-shirts as per their requisition. Those who applied individually may wait for our confirmation SMS and collect their T Shirts from us as per the notification. The date of issuance will be informed to the participants on the Cell No provided by them. Participants without the official T Shirt can also participate by collecting the chest No at the start point on 1st Dec 09 at 6.00 AM
(j) No participant is allowed to run bare foot.
 Facilities

(A)Security Arrangements

Police assistance has been arranged at the Starting Point, Finishing Point and en route the Mini-Marathon. The runners from Infocity, Patia (Bhubaneswar) are advised to run on the left side of the road only. There will be volunteers and NCC cadets to help the traffic during the race.
(B)Transport Arrangements
A couple of buses will be stationed at kalinga stadium to ferry the runners back to the start point only after the completion of the closing ceremony. However, we would encourage you to have your own arrangement in order to avoid delay/inconvenience.

(C)Water Points:
There will be Water points through out the designated route. Our volunteers will assist the participants at such facility points.

(D)Medical Arrangements
First Aid centers at all Water Points have been arranged. At least 3 Ambulances will follow the participants if any medical assistance is required.
(E)Refreshment
We are providing packaged snacks free of cost at the end point. Your T-Shirt and Chest Nos will entitle you for this facility. Please remember, Orissa Television is not charging any fee from the participants

 Do’s and Don’ts

Reporting Time at the starting point is 6.00AM. Do reach the venue by that time.
Be prepared for the race both mentally and physically.

Avoid overcrowding and do not run in a disorderly manner.

Enjoy the participation as you are running for a great cause.

Be sure of your body condition and run light.

Obey the instructions /announcements of the Sports Instructors/Organizers.

Do not wear any valuables

Do not click photographs (Still/Video) en-route as it will obstruct the flow of traffic.

Do not carry or use cell phone during the race.

Do not carry any bag and baggage.

If you feel uncomfortable while running, don’t force yourself; rather seek immediate assistance from volunteers.
Avoid stampede
 
Wear the T-shirt provided by the organizers for easy identification
