Orissa Television (OTV)
is the first private electronic Media in the state of Orissa.
Launched in 1997 in the twin cities of Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack
& slowly spread to all major towns of the state. It was
then the premier source of news, current affairs and entertainment.
OTV was widely viewed due to it’s strong local coverage and
in-depth analysis of unfolding events.
OTV started it’s satellite operation on 2nd Dec,06.
Orissa TV, popularly known as 'OTV', is a
sister concern of ORTEL Communications Ltd. - one of the fastest
growing broadband services providing company and controlling
the largest C&S homes in the urban cities of the state.
Over the years, Orissa TV has grown up to this standard under
the dynamic leadership of its Promoter- Mrs. Jagi Mangat Panda
who belongs to the well-established Panda Family of the state,
promoters of the IMFA group of companies engaged in Smelters,
Power Generation, Coal and Chromite Mining.
Orissa
TV is a free-to-air channel and is available on INSAT 4A,
3805 MHz, FEC 28500 7/8 with Horizontal Polarization.
The
target audience of Orissa TV is the Oriya speaking community
all over the world, who wants to keep them updated about the
happenings in Orissa and wants to watch the best entertainment
programmes of their mother tongue irrespective of their location.
The channel has programmes catering to each age group &
socio economic class
Orissa TV will act as a platform for the advertisers of all
categories like FMCG, Banking, Telecom, Insurance, Auto Education
and Retail sector etc.

fiction, non fiction, Children’s programme, Women’s magazine,

OTV

of the state, Damini & Uttaradayee.
While Damini is based on Women empowerment, their struggle
& existence in the society, Uttaradayee is family drama
between two rich families. The leading cine artist “Ushashri
Mishra” is the lead of Damini. And all the big celebrities
of Oriya Film industry like Uttam Mohanty, Aparajita Mohanty,
Mihir Das, Debu Bose & Puspa Panda etc are a part of Uttaradyee.
These names are very famous & well known & received
by the Oriya house holds. Parichaya is another weekly family
drama, where the story revolves around the happenings of modern
society.
Along
with this OTV has got variety of non fiction programmes. “Sangini”
is the women’s magazine covering all the segments like beauty,
education, career & social aspects of women. Youth programme
“Hip Hip Hurray” caters to the current view, hobbies, life
style of the youth where they show their talents also. Film
based magazines “Cine Bazar” & “Cine Sangeet” caters to
all the movie lovers of the state. Religious programme “Anjali”
& “Upasana” makes the more spiritual. Children love to
watch the talent hunt show “Dance Baby Dance”. On every Saturday
OTV airs the most successful & blockbuster movies for
the public.
Also
OTV’s major focus is to provide balanced & impartial News
which should related to the state or from the state of Orissa.
OTV has the biggest reporters’ network in the state. OTV covers
all the incidents & happenings in it’s news bulletins
like “Pratidin” & city centric news bulletin like “Twin
City Round Up” & “Sahara Parikrama”. Apart from this OTV
telecast news from the morning & during the day time.
Along with news it also covers current affairs in “Bishesha
Dristy”, “Sata O Mata” & “Issue of the week”.
Apart
from the regular entertainment Programmes, news bulletin &
current affairs programme, OTV also does a lot of events during
festive season. Like Lord Jagannatha Rathayatra during the
month of July, Holi during the month of March, Dassera during
the month of October etc.
In the coming day OTV also plans to come up with more interactive
live game shows, new mega serials, Song & Dance based
programmes, events etc. Along with this OTV has announced
to start the biggest mythological serial
“Shree Jagannatha” based on Lord Jagannatha
from September,07.
OTV has got a punch line “Ama matira TV, Odissra TV,
OTV”, which means (Orissa’s channel OTV, A complete
family entertainment channel with 360° Approach.) The
reasons for it are that OTV wants to become complete Oriya
entertainment channel.
The main difference between OTV and other Oriya
channels are. 1.
OTV doesn’t give dubbed serials of other languages like other
channels.
2. OTV gives news and unbiased views from all the nicks &
corners of Orissa.
3. OTV concentrates only on the Orissa based events &
news, as no other channels covers Orissa exclusively.
4. OTV takes the consent of our customers to provide what
they want to watch, and does not show what we want our viewers
to watch.

Orissa
Television Ltd. has its presence in every nicks & corners
of Orissa. OTV is carried by almost 4500 cable operators all
over Orissa. As it’s a free to air channel OTV is doesn’t
charge any fees & we also provide technical support to
the operators for better quality of transmission. TV is doing
its distribution on the micro level, where the company representative
goes to the village level, for the transmission purpose. A
technical person visits every month to all the cable operators,
and see that the transmission is proper. OTV is not only visible
across the state; it is also visible in major towns of the
country like Delhi, Mumbai, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Guwahati,
Bangalore, Vizag etc.
